Kalmar DRT 450: what is it?
A container reachstacker with a maximum lift capacity of 45 tonnes and a lifting height of five 9 ft 6 in containers, according to its operator's manual (series 2), as HIT SRL's technical desk reads it. Published sources state that the DRT450 was designed for customers in the Asia-Pacific area and launched in 2011, with a hydraulic sliding cab on request and two engine options.

Kalmar DRT 450: how is its designation read?

Kalmar DRT 450: which driveline does it have?
Its operator's manual (series 2) pairs a Yuchai YC6M360-30 or a Cummins QSM11 with a Dana HR36000 automatic transmission, four gears each way, and a Meritor PRC7534 drive axle, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. The same manual fits a manually sliding cab and linear steering, in which the steering angle depends on the number of steering wheel turns.

Kalmar DRT 450: how powerful are its engines?
The Yuchai YC6M360-30 gives 243 kW at 2000 rpm and 1550 Nm at 1100 rpm and the Cummins QSM11 224 kW at 2000 rpm and 1575 Nm at 1400 rpm, according to the operator's manual (series 2) of the DRT 450, as logged by the HIT SRL technical desk. The same manual gives a 24 V system on two 12 V 135 Ah batteries, as recorded at HIT SRL. Its alternators are rated 1960 W on the Yuchai and 2400 W on the Cummins, according to the same manual.

Kalmar DRT 450: which fluids and tyres does it use?
18.00x25 PR40 E4 tyres at 1.0 MPa, a 600 l hydraulic tank in a 940 l system, a 140 l brake system, 50 l in the differential and 2 x 10 l in the hub reductions, according to its operator's manual (series 2), as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk. For the Dana HR36000 transmission the same manual accepts oils to Allison C-4, John Deere J20 C/D, Caterpillar TO-4 or MIL-PRF-2104G and never engine oil or GL-5 oil, as HIT SRL's technical desk reads it. The DRF 400-450, by contrast, fills its Dana TE32000 with ATF Dexron III, according to the maintenance manual (series 1).

Kalmar DRT 450: which temperatures and wind speeds is it designed for?
For outdoor temperatures of -20 to 40 °C, a relative humidity of 10 to 90 % and wind speeds up to 12.2 m/s, according to its operator's manual (series 2), the HIT SRL technical desk notes. The same manual prohibits operation with unauthorised persons or vehicles in the work area, and the limits that apply to a given machine are those in the manual of the specific machine.

Kalmar DRT 450: what should the operator do at the first sign of fire?
Stop the machine with the key, leave the cab, switch off the system voltage with the battery disconnector, alert the rescue services and try to put out the fire, or otherwise leave the machine and the risk area, according to the operator's manual (series 2) of the DRT 450, as recorded at HIT SRL. 45,000 kg at load centre L4 and 41,000 kg at load centre L5, according to its data sheet (2017), as HIT SRL's technical desk reads it. At the maximum lifting height the same data sheet gives 45,000 kg at L4 and 39,000 kg at L5, with L4 at 1865 mm and L5 at 3815 mm from its drawing, and places the model in the DRG420-450S range.

Kalmar DRG450-70S5XS: what engine data and capacities does the data sheet give?
265 kW at 1450-2000 rpm and 1785 Nm at 1000-1450 rpm to ISO 3046, a 4200 W alternator, a 550 l fuel tank and a 35 l AdBlue tank, according to the technical data table of its data sheet (2017), as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk. The same data sheet gives a maximum hydraulic pressure of 23.0 MPa for boom and spreader and 740 l of hydraulic oil, 600 plus 140, as HIT SRL's technical desk reads it. It declares a fuel consumption of 14-20 l/h with AdBlue at 1-5 % of the diesel, and a cab noise of 69-71 dB(A) with the ECO modes, according to the same data sheet.

Kalmar DRG 420-450: what is the Gloria?
The fifth generation of Kalmar DRG reachstackers, presented at the TOC Europe 2013 after the F generation, published sources state, the HIT SRL technical desk notes. According to these sources the new G generation added four models to the container range and three to the intermodal range, with 42 to 45 t in the first row and stacking up to 6 containers high, or 5 in the intermodal range, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. The same sources report a cab with 90 per cent visibility over the working area.

Kalmar DRF 400-450: how does its steering differ from that of the DRT 450?
The DRF 400-450 steers progressively, a quick movement of the wheel giving a greater steering angle per turn, according to its operator's manual (series 1), as HIT SRL's technical desk reads it. Two maintenance items depend on the engine: the coolant filter, every 1000 hours with Volvo and every 500 hours with Cummins, and the valve clearance check, done at 2000 hours on the Volvo alone, according to the maintenance manual (series 1), as logged by the HIT SRL technical desk. The same manual also rates the alternator at 2240 W with Volvo engines and at 2800 W with the Cummins.

Kalmar DRF 400-450: what does the maintenance manual (series 3) add to the series 1 schedule?
Four entries: lubrication of the lower inner boom glide surfaces every 250 hours up to 1000 hours, draining of the fuel pre-filter every 50 hours, a rim check at a tyre change or once a year and a check of the sliding cab locking at 1000 and 2000 hours, according to the maintenance manual (series 3), as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk. The same manual also brings the fuel filter changes forward when an error code is shown, as HIT SRL's technical desk reads it. The maintenance manual (series 1) has none of these entries in its schedule, and both schedules are given here as printed.

In the same tables the service weight of the DRF450-65S5 goes from 66,800 kg to 69,000 kg, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. The first row stays at 43*/45 tonnes in both tables, according to the same manual.
