Fantuzzi CS45: what does the LMS lock when the load exceeds the maximum?

HIT SRL technical desk · Fantuzzi CS45 technical card · October 2026

All boom movements except retraction, according to the LMS Edgevision operator manual for the CS 45 KM and KC stackers, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. The manual has the system lock them when the actual weight exceeds the maximum allowed, with a pre-alarm message for an approaching overload, the HIT SRL technical desk notes. On the KC, the LMS BOX version adds a yellow LED for approaching overload and a red LED for overload or general fault, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

Fantuzzi CS45: what do the LMS minimum-distance and high-angle safeties lock?

HIT SRL technical desk · Fantuzzi CS45 technical card · October 2026

According to the LMS Edgevision manual for the CS 45 KM and KC, below the minimum distance, usually set at 0 m, the LMS locks boom lifting and retraction; above the set boom angle it locks boom lifting, as recorded at HIT SRL. The same manual also describes a stabilizer control that locks stabilizer lifting when the machine is not safe without stabilizers, as logged by the HIT SRL technical desk. These safeties work alongside the overload lock described in the same manual, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

HIT SRL technical desk · Fantuzzi CS45 technical card · October 2026

It disables all safety devices, according to the 2013 operator's manual of the CS 45 KM, the HIT SRL technical desk notes. The manual states that the key is meant to restore the boom functions when a malfunctioning anti-overtipping device inhibits them, and that it may be used only for the time strictly necessary, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. The same manual lists further bypass keys in the cab and in the electrical compartment, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

HIT SRL technical desk · Fantuzzi CS45 technical card · October 2026

According to the 2013 operator's manual of the CS 45 KM, the lifting bypass restores arm and twistlock lifting after a twistlock-sensor fault, and the drop-stop bypass restores arm lowering when the proximity sensors are faulty or the container is damaged near the corner castings, as recorded at HIT SRL. The manual requires the approval of the person in charge to use them, as logged by the HIT SRL technical desk. The same manual also requires two people, one in the cab and one at the electrical compartment, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

HIT SRL technical desk · Fantuzzi CS45 technical card · October 2026

Arm movement stops immediately, except for retraction, according to the 2013 operator's manual of the CS 45 KM, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. The manual describes this for a failure of the "twistlock locked-on" sensor while a container is handled, and shows the sensor state with a green light on the spreader and in the cab. HIT SRL service technicians report that the convention in service is green = twistlocks open, container free. Verify the convention on your own machine and spreader before operating.

HIT SRL technical desk · Fantuzzi CS45 technical card · October 2026

The sources give opposite meanings for green, as logged by the HIT SRL technical desk. The handbook of the CS 45 S (Officine Meccaniche Fantuzzi) gives green for twistlocks disengaged and container released, amber for spreader seated and twistlocks correctly positioned, and red for twistlocks engaged and container locked. The 2013 operator's manual of the CS 45 KM shows the "twistlock locked-on" state with a green light on the spreader and in the cab. HIT SRL service technicians report that the convention in service is green = twistlocks open, container free. Verify the convention on your own machine and spreader before operating.

Important — general guidance only – Fantuzzi CS45 Technical Cards

The information on this page is general technical guidance based on the field experience of HIT SRL's service technicians with port handling equipment, on the manufacturer's technical documentation consulted during service work on customers' machines or found in public sources, and on published sources on the history of Reggiane, Fantuzzi and Fantuzzi Reggiane. It is not machine-specific and does not replace the manufacturer's documentation.

Always refer to the operation and maintenance manual issued for your specific machine, model, serial number and configuration. Specifications, tolerances, tightening torques, service intervals and fluid types vary between manufacturers, between models of the same manufacturer, between production series of the same model, and with the operating environment: two visually identical components may be tightened to different torque values depending on who built the machine, and a unit working in arctic conditions requires different lubricants and service intervals from an identical unit working in tropical heat. Local regulations may impose further requirements. Where this page and your machine's manual differ, the manual prevails.

Maintenance and repair work must be carried out only by qualified personnel, with the machine isolated and secured according to the applicable safety procedures.

HIT Srl accepts no liability for damage, injury or loss arising from the use of this general information.
