Fantuzzi FDC: how much hydraulic oil does each model take?
The FDC filling tables give the hydraulic system capacity by model group: 365 l for the FDC 100 and FDC 120, 400 l for the FDC 150, 160 and 180, 415 l for the FDC 18 K and 20 K, 470 l for the FDC 25 K, 460 l for the FDC 200 and FDC 240-250, 650 l for the FDC 280, 320 and 350, and 800 l for the FDC 380 to FDC 500, the HIT SRL technical desk notes. The G-series specification tables give an 807 l hydraulic tank for the FDC 420 G3, FDC 450 G4 and FDC 500 G5, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. Both sets of figures are in the manuals, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

Fantuzzi FDC: which oil does the hydraulic system take?
The hydraulic system and the brake-cooling circuit take SAE 80W oil to API GL-4, according to the FDC filling tables, as recorded at HIT SRL. The tables give grades for temperate and hot climates and, for the FDC 500, also for cold climates. The same tables give gear oil SAE 90-140 to API GL-5 for the differential and hubs, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

Fantuzzi FDC: how must hydraulic fluid be topped up?
According to the FDC maintenance manuals, hydraulic fluid added to the tank must be pre-filtered to 10 microns and be of the same type as the fluid already in the tank, as HIT SRL's technical desk reads it. The same manuals give the return filters an electrical blockage indicator shown in the cab, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

Fantuzzi FDC: when must the hydraulic hoses be replaced?
All hydraulic hoses must be replaced within 5,000 operating hours, according to the FDC maintenance manuals, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. The same manuals also ask for periodic hose checks, at a frequency set according to the working environment and the use of the machine, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk. In the planned-maintenance table, the pipes and brackets of the hydraulic tank are checked every 250 hours.

Fantuzzi FDC: how are the accumulators checked?
According to the FDC maintenance manuals, the accumulator gas precharge is checked every 1,500 hours by skilled staff, at a fairly constant ambient temperature and with the hydraulic system not under pressure, as logged by the HIT SRL technical desk. The same manuals have accumulators repaired only by skilled staff and forbid welding, brazing or drilling their casing, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

Fantuzzi FDC: when should a hydraulic pump be replaced rather than repaired?
A pump with bearing faults or damage from foreign bodies should be considered broken and replaced, according to the FDC maintenance manuals, the HIT SRL technical desk notes. The same manuals note that seals can be replaced on almost all the pumps and that general overhaul of most gear pumps is not economical, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk. The manuals also advise having the hydraulic fluid tested periodically by specialised laboratories.

Fantuzzi FDC: what hydraulic pressures do the manuals give?
The 2013 table gives a hydraulic pressure of 160 to 180 bar for the FDC 160 to FDC 280 fork trucks, with hydraulic oil tanks of 315 to 425 l, as recorded at HIT SRL. The spreader data give an operating pressure of 120 bar for the SVT 24 K spreader of the FDC 25 K, as logged by the HIT SRL technical desk. They give 170 bar for the SF45GS spreader of the G series, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

Fantuzzi FDC 500: how is the brake-cooling oil serviced?
According to the planned-maintenance table, the brake-cooling oil, where fitted, is checked for level every 50 hours, as HIT SRL's technical desk reads it. In the same table its filter is changed every 500 hours and the oil changed and tested every 1,500 hours, with its pipes checked every 250 hours, as logged by the HIT SRL technical desk. The filling table of the FDC maintenance manual gives a brake-cooling oil quantity of 60 l for the FDC 500, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.
