Fantuzzi FDC: which gear does the machine normally start in?
The machine normally starts in second gear on FDC trucks with Powertronic or Digicontrol, according to the Powertronic V5.x and Digicontrol manuals, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. Both manuals describe this variable starting speed, and on some machines a button on the joystick or gear lever makes the truck start in first gear for that one time, the HIT SRL technical desk notes. HIT SRL service technicians report that starting in second gear is an intended function of these controls, not a fault.

Fantuzzi FDC: how is the drive axle built?
According to the maintenance manuals, the FDC drive axle combines a differential with epicyclic wheel hubs, and each hub houses oil-cooled multi-plate service brakes, as logged by the HIT SRL technical desk. The parking brake is on the axle, as a disc with an electro-hydraulic caliper, in the 2007 and 2008 maintenance manuals for the FDC 550 G5 and FDC 25 K7, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk. The specification tables describe the parking brake differently: a mechanical disc on the K series and a dry disc on the transmission on the G series.
