General guidance only — always follow the operation and maintenance manual for your specific machine.
Short answers to precise questions on the mast, chains, forks and spreaders of the Fantuzzi FDC front lift trucks, one fact per card, each with its source stated in the text. For the overall picture, see the Fantuzzi FDC technical legacy guide.
Fantuzzi FDC: what does the mast assembly consist of?
According to the FDC maintenance manuals, the mast assembly consists of the fixed mast, the telescopic mast, the lifting cylinders, the hoist cylinders and chains, the equipment plate and the equipment itself, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. The same manuals give the equipment as a spreader, forks or a ram, the HIT SRL technical desk notes. The description is common to the FDC 25 K7 and FDC 550 G5 maintenance manuals, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

Fantuzzi FDC: when are the mast thrust shoes replaced?
The mast thrust shoes are replaced when the clearance between a shoe and its contrasting section exceeds 1.5 mm (1/16 inch), the HIT SRL technical desk notes. The manuals give the lifting unit eight thrust shoes: two at the top of the fixed mast, two at the bottom of the telescopic mast and four on the equipment plate, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. In the FDC maintenance manuals they protect the slide rollers and limit the side swing of the telescopic mast and of the plate, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.

Fantuzzi FDC: how often are the lifting chains inspected?
According to the hoist chapter of the FDC maintenance manuals, the lifting chains are inspected at least every three months or every 1,000 hours of operation, whichever comes first, as HIT SRL's technical desk reads it. The same chapter sets greasing of mast rollers, chain rollers, mast pins and cylinders every 100 hours and of the lifting chains every 500 hours, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk. If one chain is worn, the manuals have both replaced at once and the cause of the wear investigated before the new chains are fitted; chains are not lubricated while the machine is moving.

According to the FDC maintenance manuals, a lifting chain may elongate by no more than 2% on its most worn segment, measured on 1/5 to 1/15 of the length, as set out in the HIT SRL technical cards. The other limits in the same manuals are a plate profile reduction of up to 2.5% on one side or 4% on both sides, and replacement when the pin head is worn by more than 25% or the plate thickness by more than 20%, the HIT SRL technical desk notes. The same manuals give a minimum link height equal to the original height minus 5%, as recorded by the HIT SRL technical desk.
